Before we started doing reviews for ToDoTC, we have owned a small business for about 30 years. We never knew where business came from, and we were thankful for every customer we got. So if we can give the nice people from Teque Arepa Venezuelan Restaurant a push and a few new customers it would make my day. But Teque Arepa has been serving great food for eleven years.

People in small businesses bust their ass to be a success despite most of the system being against them. And the people at Teque Arepa do a great job and provide a great product.

We talk food with a lot of people. Jim a nice friend asked me if we would do a review on Teque Arepa it was a Venezulan Restraurant near Eden Prairie Center. Well we had an afternoon pool party in South St Paul to attend and a evening yacht party on Tonka, Teque Arepa was perfectly between them. So I said sure we’d fit it in.

We went to Starling Restaurant in Edina Friday night 50th & 100. So after we drove the 5 miles to take a look what we were getting into. Teque Arepa is a small restaurant in a strip mall. Don’t expect wine, beer or vallet parking, just good food.

On Friday night we found out Teque Arepa closes at 7 PM so don’t plan an evening meal there.

So on Saturday about 5 PM we went there. The 30ish year old young lady that was working the register and taking orders could not have been sweeter. She went through the big screen menu and gave us and idea of which of the Venezuelan foods they offered that might fit our tastes.

We ended up ordering two favorites The Pabellon for $14.99: Choice of Protein (Chicken, beef, pork, cheese) with black beans, sweet plantain slices and white cheese. It is like a pocket sandwich. E absolutely loved it them and is looking for a recipe to cook it.

Second we had a Con Asado which was like a pancake with pizza type Mozzarella cheese. It had a covering that made it look like a pastry, which was sweet with a touch on Cinnamon.

Lastly we had a Strawberry Milk shake. One of the better shakes I have ever had.

The food was very good and MN Spicy nice, yet flavorful.

Teque Arepa has about ten tables to eat at with about three outside. But if we lived in the southwest metro we would definitely order takeout.

Teque Arepa was something a little but different and worth the drive to Eden Prairie Center. We’ll be back when we are in the area.
