E and I are both from small midwest towns where the American Legion is part of the life of the local town. For lent you go to either the local churches or the the local Eagles, Legion, VFW, Elks, Lions… to have fish fries. With both of us it is a basic family tradition. Beyond the fact that they HAVE a fish fry it is a way to, however little, to give back to the community. So E did the research and found out Shorewood Legion had one of the best Fish Frys around so out we went.

Now, one would argue if you took down the local identifying signs down and put someone in one of these non-profits most would be hard pressed to know what state or organization it is. That is the case with the Shorewood American Legion Post 259. Clean, nice people, good food at a good price, good service, god, country…..

E made reservations two weeks in advance to 7:15 PM and we had a table within five minutes from arriving. The people were nice, we talked to two adjoining tables, which never happens at most restaurants and had great fish, served quickly at a great price.

If you haven't been to a church or non-profit this year, spend the time to seek one out and contribute to them whether it be a fish fry, their celebration day, whatever they do great work for our society and you should be a part of that. And if you don't know your local organizations take a trip out to Shorewood, they are nice people.
