Tonight we are a bit out on a limb eating Progressive Indian Quisine a block from 50th & France downtown Edina.
This in a word should be interesting. The restaurant is very clean and modern with a very inviting fireplace complete with flame.
I will be eating what E tells me to eat.
The wine list as well put together. I had a Malbec from Mendoza Argentina. They had two Malbecs from Argentina I had the Show. E had a Cab Sav from CA. BOTH wines were VERY good.
Next we ordered sea bass as an appetizer. It's a Lenten Friday we got to do fish. I have enough reasons to go to hell why push it.
Then we ordered an interesting bread basket. We had six breads to pick three. We let our waiter pick and surprise us.
When the sea bass came I had to ask what it was. It was orange, but was a great presentation. It was VERY good. I'm eating INDIAN!
On the Sea Bass plate was dried Lemon slices. They were great and cut the Zippy Indian spice.
Rarely do I comment on Music but sitting next to fire, listening to Eric Clampton singing You look wonderful tonight was a great mix.
Next came the shrimp and assorted fresh from the Oven bread. The amazing Sea Bass was out done by shrimp served in one of the most interesting combination we had ever seen. With a white sauce or more appropriately Yellow sauce that was a perfect compliment to white rice.
If you are a good down home Minnesotan that consider Ketchup a spice, come give this place a try. God gave you taste buds for a reason and you should exercise them on occasion and Raag is a great place to start.
Perhaps I have too much Midwest values and premonitions in what I expect in an Indian restaurant.. most of which were wrong. Raag is a clean, upscale restaurant with a great wine list, great atmosphere, food and service. Walk out on a limb and give it a try. It's a block from downtown Edina, how must more safe and upscale do you expect to get?
By the way our bill WITH WINE was $85 now THAT is impressive... we'll be back!
