There are a lot of pubs and breweries in the cities. Most are similar to each other, 819 Pub of Hopkins is unique with more distillery options than nearly any other pub, brewery or distillery. If you are or have a friend that are into exoctic choices in beverage 819 Pub is a great choice. With 90+ whiskeys, crafted cocktails, 32 craft beer taps few places have the selection of 819 Pub. Don’t go to 819 Pub for wine, they have four whites and five reds. E had the California Hess Shirtail Cab Sav for $13 and I had a Argentina Dona Paula Merlot for $10 they could use some work, they lacked unique taste.
As the fall approaches we decided we would checkout a few patios. 819 Pub has a great patio. Actually they have TWO patios. We sat on the street side patio with a great selection of plants and flora helped to break up the traffic noise. They also have a rear deck with walls that I suspect is heated for nearly year long patio seating.
819 Pub though does not look it from the street is a very large place. There are about a dozen booths, tables and a large bar area. All done in wood reminiscent of the calming affect of a log cabin or hunting lodge.
819 being a Pub we went with the burgers and they were very good. E had a Leo Melt with a 7 oz beef patty with gouda, white cheddar, caramelized onions and secret sauce on grilled Marble Rye for $17. We have been know to spend $100 on cheese at Surdyks and E thought the cheese and burger were amazing.
I had a more traditional favorite Double Royale GFO (Gluten Free Option) with two beef smash patties, American Cheese, Red Onion, garlic aloli sauce and pickles for $16. It too was tasty. E and I both had fries and add cole slaw which were OK.
We went to 819 Pub on Main Street in Hopkins on a Friday night at 7 PM with no reservations. Many restaurants are getting rid of reservations. We were promptly seated and it was a nice quiet atmosphere.
819 Pub is a nice place to meet friends especially those that can be difficult to pour for. They have an abundance of TVs so a Sunday football day might also be an option.
Our bill was $70, which some may say is a bit much for a burger joint but all the food was good. I can see us returning to 819 Pub, you should try it.
