We go to about 60 wine tastings a year and host about ten with The MN Wine Club we own.
We discovered the North Metro Wine Club and Small Lot Wine group while searching Eventbrite. After we posted our Feb Best of the world wine tasting we discovered this clubs tasting two miles from home at Best Western of Shoreview.

Why us the owners of The MN Wine Club promote another wine club? We taste every Friday night at North Loop wine & spirits before we review another of our 500 restaurants.

We also try to support all the other wine events. My Dr said we should limit our tastings to no more than 6 a week. We aren't even close.

Tonight we paid $20 each tonight to learn of and taste Eight wines from: Australia, New Zealand, South Africa.

The presenters were wine distributors Marcus Hanson & Ryan. Marcus also entertains us by singing Opera as an introduction.

The first wine is Brokenwood Semillion, a white from Hunter Valley Australia. One of the few Single non-blend presentation of Semillion. For a white it was good. Normally Semillion is only used to blend.

The Second wine is Hermit Crab a white Viognier/Rousanne blend from McLaren Vale, Australia. It was good.

The third wine is Orchard Lane Sauvignon Blanc from Marlbough New Zealand, yes it is as Grassy as it sounds.

The Fourth wine is David Finlayson Chardonnay Stellenbosch South Africa. It as a chardonnay.

The Fifth wine is Devil's Corner Pinot Noir of Tasmania. This is the number one Noir in Australian wine. And it's not bad.

The sixth wine is d'Arenberg Laughing Magpie Shiraz from McLaren, South Australia. This is a deep red fine wine. It is very good.

The seventh wine Penney Estate Phoenix Cabernet from Coonawarra Australia. This is a good full bodied wine.

The eight & last wine was Tait the Ball Buster Shiraz/Cab/Merlot from Barossa South Africa. This wine was not amazing but it is Yummy and VERY drinkable.

As part of supporting them we bought a few bottles of wine and were given options on what liquor store to pick them up. We chose the Top Ten Liquors next to Byerlys/Lunds by Snelling & County Rd C in Roseville. That transaction went fine.

This was a great tasting and we will be back.
