We go to 8-10 art fairs a year. If it's a Friday/Saturday in June or September we are probably at an art fair. And we take our grnd kids to everyone of them. That making a bit more expensive than free. But exposing your kids and grandkids to art early makes for a more full life.

Two things: The Edina Art fair 50th & France and Grand old days of St Paul are the mileposts that mark the beginning of summer. Both are usually the first weekend in June. This year June 1st was on a Sunday, the traditional day of Grand Old Days and the Edina Art Fair, traditionally the first weekend in June ended on different weekends. Perfectly fine there is always something to do in the metro.

The Edina Art fair is one of our favorites. It has Free parking and access from all sides. It is of great size. It's four blocks around downtown Edina at 50th and France. It is an easy walk with pleanty of great food and art.

There is a lot of interesting people in attendance. Finishing our fourth block I looked over at Hemingwayesque man in a doorway and me being the silent Wisconsin type said: " Sir you look just like just like Bobby Jensen the garden/plant guy we watch every Saturday morning." Bobby looked at me and smiled and in his always class style said: "I hope so for I am Bobby Jensen, nice to meet you!"

I introduced E and the grandkids and one of him said: "He's the plant guy from TV!" Bobby said "Yes I am, keep watching OK."

So we went back to the artist our granddaughter selected and bought her her first piece of art for her room. What a great day. Can't wait to take everyone to Edinas Fall art show a few miles south.
