Como Park Pavilion
If you haven’t spent a few hours in Como Park, you have missed one of the Jewels on MSP.

There are about five attractions at the FREE Como Park. If you are looking for: a cheap “Sensitive” date, someplace to take the kids or visitors, someplace to meet or just get out to see people, few places compare with Como Park about a mile from the State Fair.
When I moved to the TCs from Minot AFB I was down at Como Park at least monthly. I have taken dates & family there, I have sat on the lazy quiet hills and worked on both homework and engineering for work. It’s a place even when your wallet is as light as it possibly can be still welcomes you!

The other day when E & I were driving around with our grandkids our granddaughter asked when are we going to go for a picnic. I took and obscure left turn and E said I think we are going on one right now.

A few minutes later our grandson asked, “what’s this place?” It’s where I used to take grandma on dates and your father took your mother on dates. The obvious next question was: “Grandma you went on dates?” Yes, I did right here! And after they saw then ice cream and the lake it was agreed this would fit as a picnic.

Como Park is 450 acres about two miles north of 94 a mile from the fairgrounds in St Paul’s Midway district. They have two great walking trails also open for biking. The trail around the lake is 1.6 miles, about a nice 30-minute walk. And a second loop that goes by the zoo, golf course and conservatory about 1.9 miles or 36 minutes. Perfect length to meet someone during a walk and short enough nearly every age and size of person can go.

I have written a piece on the Zoo which is a great time. Como Park also has a Golf course and a kids amusement park and a picnic area. But a bit lesser known is the swimming pool they have. It can accommodate both adults and kids. It’s a great place to go swimming. I have been in the metro 30 years and know of few public outside pools. Remember that in July.

And one of the beauties of Como is everything is free or for a small optional donation. And there is ample free parking. If you are on a small or large budget, it’s a great place to go.
