Tonight we are Cast & Cru which is the name of the restaurant for Old Log Theatre in Greenwood just past Excelsior.
This place is reservations only. Which is tough because most people aren't that organized. Brad our host was classy and had a great attitude and just the right amount of attentive. Wish more wait staff checked in as often as he did. When we sat down James Taylor was playing at just the right volume. Good tunes
Old Log is such a wonderful play house specializing in English Farce Comedies we had to come out and see. We have been a fan of Old Log for years. Nick Nolte started his career here.
Sadly on a Friday night Cast & Cru only had 7:00 reservations for FOUR tables.
The wine list is a bit tiny for the glass with about 5 reds for under $10. E had a CA Cab I had a CA Noir. Both were VERY good pours.
For apps we had a blood orange salad. Which was spring greens with sweet red oranges and red onions & Walnuts. Also a Margarita flat bread pizza type of thing. Both were very good.
For entrees I ordered pan fried Walleye and E had Rigatoni. My Walleye came with asparagus, a FULL HALF of lemon some of us greatly appreciate and the most incredible Wild Rice we have ever had, god it's good. The fish was great and about double the size of a normal fish fry.
E's rigatoni was a generous portion with Marinara sauce. There was more than enough for two.
It has been almost a year since we added a restaurant to our top ten. This is in our top ten now. We are coming out here quarterly with the seasons. We'll be back in June and HOPEFULLY see a play too.
Our bill was $90 which these days you should expect for a quality meal with two appetizers, two entrees and two wines of this top quality. Without having to worry where you parked or walked or pay additional Covid fees beyond your bill.
