Café and Bar Lurcat, located next to Loring Park, is a hip, urban venue that boasts serious food and voguish design. Café Lurcat is a perfect blend of classic old world style with a Noveau twist.
Lurcat
So where do we start? Cafe Lucrat is a mainstay if the great local restaurants. If you want to impress someone with great unusual food Cafe Lurcat should be on your shortlist. High ceilings means you won't be listening to your neighbors conversations and the temperature is somehow perfect. The view of Loring Park and Midtown is unequalled.
We came during restaurant week so instead of the normal menu we were offered 4 choices of three phenomenal courses for $35 each.
Tonight we are at Cafe Lurcat which overlooks Loring Park and the Giant Spoon. We have tried to get in here for years to no avail. Since we have been making reservations for the month a month a head of time we got a table. We are eating at 6:15, which is early but we are eating.

E had a green salad and I had an Apple salad with shaved apple toothpick sized sticks that was great and we had never seen before.

For Entrees I ordered Salmon and E had a great chicken dish, both incredible

E ordered a $18 Cab Sav from Sonoma perfect temp & breathed and she said it was to die for. I had an Argentinian Malbec that was very good.
Cafe Lurcat can teach the restaurants about bread. We must have gotten ten pieces not 2-4 like many restaurants. Enough good bread to last the meal and to help with the wine.

Our third (last) course was a great desert that the contents filled half a page. And they too were great.

We asked the very attentive waiter if we missed anything? He suggested the French fries which were very good.
YES Cafe Lurcat makes our top ten. It was a bit more pricey than most but we had six courses instead of our usual sharing 2/3.
