Tonight we are at Broders Pasta Bar at 50th & Penn. We go to 40+ restaurants a year and blog about them for our readers. The first week restaurants were open after Covid we were at a restaurant in addition to the last day they were open before.
Our first impression of Borders Pasta Bar was absolutely terrible and little got better from there. A third of their parking lot is occupied by a tent for outside seating. The parking spaces left are reserved for pickup only. We were asked to park two blocks away. The couple in front of us parked in one of those spots and sat down without a reservation. I guess it's nice to be privileged.
This place amazes us! They add 15% gratuity but WE had to walk up and order the food & beverage at a counter. What is the 15% for because we did NOT get Service. And faceless, nameless young men brought out our food. We had warm water for seconds, the initial had ice and sat for most our meal with plates we weren't sure if we had to bus ourselves.
The food was ok, but then it's rare that any restaurant has bad food these days. But the table we sat at was about 18" wide and the silverware slid to one side. There was little room for the plates that were not removed by a waitress.
We had to asked for a printout of our bill every other restaurant just routinely presents to us... SERIOUSLY?
We don't have a worse ten list but if we did Broders Pasta Bar would definitely be on it! Try the Italian Eatery instead, a couple of miles straight East by the airport, you will ACTUALLY order and meet your waiter/waitress! And the food at IE is FAR SUPERIOR!
Borders Pasta Bar is the poorest run restaurant we have been to in years AVOID IT!
