WI is open so we are here. Barkers a great little watering hole on the Hudson main drag is open to serve us. Since I'm originally from Central WI I feel at home in a bar restaurant of this type. The menu is simple with all the essentials: burgers, fish fries, cheese curd, beef tips and more. They even have a Veggy burger.
We had reservations which was nice. We walked a few blocks each direction to find them. GPS is tough for under 2 blocks walking. Hint it's on the west side of the main drag in the middle of the block with the Art shop on the corner.
The tunes here are some of the best in any restaurant we have been. The fried cheese curds the red sauce is zippy but great.
The cooks are working at max since they not only have the sit down crowd they also have a great takeout business
The wine list has about 20 items with about ten grapes mostly of the Nobels class. E had her usual CA Cab Sav I had a nice CA Red Zin. But they had 4-5 whites including Riesling, Sav Blanc, Cab. And all the Nobel reds.
I ordered a fish fry and E ordered a burger & fries both were the type you dream of when your taking that diet break. The fries are those great greasy ones McDonald's never figured out how to make.
The entire experience was a nice one.
